“Best songs no one seems to have heard” #3: When the Curious Girl Realizes She Is Under Glass by Bright Eyes.

A great song from Fevers and Mirrors, one of Bright Eyes earlier full-length albums. Some of the simplest and most beautiful song lyrics I’ve ever heard. I imagine this being sung in an old house with wooden floors and an antique upright piano. Probably not everyone’s cup of tea, but I love it.

“Best songs no one seems to have heard” #2: DC Comics and Chocolate Milkshake by Art Brut.

Art Brut has gained a bit of a following since their last album, It’s a Bit Complicated, and it certainly had some good tracks, but my favorite so far comes from their newest album, Art Brut vs. Satan. Maybe it’s because I used to read comics books and I’ve always had a penchant for milkshakes (mainly strawberry, though) but this song just speaks to me. And with lines like “Life is especially hard / When no one trusts you with a credit card / I love the taste of cereal / I have it for almost every meal.” Tasty stuff.

Interesting commentary on the whole “organic” movement from skeptoid.com. Great podcast series, BTW.
